Where Florida rockets launch from

Florida launches happen at two neighboring sites on the Space Coast, about an hour east of Orlando. Cape Canaveral Space Force Station is run by the US Space Force. Kennedy Space Center is run by NASA. Rockets fly east over the Atlantic Ocean, so falling stages land at sea.

Florida had 109 launches in 2025, the most of any US state. SpaceX flew 101 of them, United Launch Alliance flew six and Blue Origin flew two.

Best places to watch a rocket launch in Florida

  • Jetty Park, Port Canaveral: a beach and pier with a clear view of launches from the Cape.
  • Playalinda Beach: the closest beach to the northern pads. It sometimes closes for launches, so check before you drive.
  • Space View Park, Titusville: a riverside park facing Kennedy Space Center.
  • Max Brewer Bridge, Titusville: a high view across the Indian River.
  • Cocoa Beach Pier: a good choice for launches from the southern pads.
  • Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex: paid tickets, and the closest public viewing for many launches.

Tips for watching in Florida

  • Check the launch time again the morning of the launch. Times move often.
  • Arrive at least two hours early for big launches. Parking fills up and roads back up after liftoff.
  • Bring binoculars, water, sunscreen and something to sit on.
  • Stay after liftoff if the booster is coming back to land at the Cape. You may hear a sonic boom.
