Jupiter is the biggest planet in the Solar system by far. If you add up all the mass of the planets, it would account for about 80% of the total.

You probably know that the greater the mass of the planet, the higher its gravity will be. That also means that if you were to stand on a planet with a higher gravity, you would weigh more.

So, that begs the question, how much would you weigh on Jupiter?

Before I answer that for you, let’s clear something up.

It is not possible for a human to stand on Jupiter because the planet is made out of gas. It does not have a solid surface where you can walk. If you were to “fall” into Jupiter or any of the other gas giants, you would sink into the core of the planet (assuming you could somehow survive the freezing temperatures, supersonic winds, and crushing pressure).

So, for the purpose of this exercise, we will have to imagine a planet with the same mass as Jupiter but with a solid surface. With that clarification made, let’s proceed.

On Jupiter, you would weigh almost 25 times your current weight on Earth. This means that a person who weighs 70 kilograms (154 lbs) on Earth would weigh approximately 177 kilograms (390 lbs) on Jupiter.

But that’s not it. You would have to add up the weight of the spacesuit required to survive.

To give you an idea of how heavy astronaut suits are, the spacesuits that the Apollo astronauts used to walk on the Moon weighed about 163 kilograms (360 pounds) on Earth. On the Moon that weight was reduced to just 27 kilograms (60 pounds) which is still a lot, but it is manageable. But the story would be very different on Jupiter.

As you can see, it would be very difficult for a human to support their own weight on Jupiter.
