When Apollo astronauts left seismometers on the Moon and later sent spacecraft to crash into its surface, they detected vibrations lasting for hours. Some scientists believe this suggests the Moon’s core is less molten than Earth’s, while others speculate it may be partly hollow—a claim often misused in conspiracy theories.
