Black Mesa Trailhead is the highest point in Oklahoma, located in the northwest part of the state. This hiking trail spans about 8.4 miles round trip and climbs over 2,100 feet in elevation. The trail is well-marked and offers opportunities for wildlife viewing, including various bird species. Hikers should plan for at least four hours and carry plenty of water, especially in warmer months, as shade is limited. The trailhead has a restroom, but amenities are scarce along the route. Once at the top, visitors can admire expansive views and mark their summit at a distinct obelisk. The area is also recognized as a dark sky park, making it ideal for stargazing.
