The famous Southern Cross (Crux) is now only visible from the Southern Hemisphere, but 5,000 years ago, it was seen from much of Europe. Due to precession, the slow wobble of Earth’s axis, stars and constellations shift over thousands of years. Ancient Greeks even mentioned the cross in their records, but today, it has disappeared below the European horizon.
