Some dying stars release winds so powerful that they make hurricanes look like a breeze. The pulsar PSR J1748-2446ad spins 716 times per second, blasting out particles at speeds close to 70% the speed of light. That’s the fastest known stellar wind in the universe—fast enough to tear apart anything that gets too close. If Earth were inside that wind, our atmosphere would be gone in seconds.
