The phrase “dark side of the Moon” is misleading. The Moon does have a far side that we never see from Earth, but it gets just as much sunlight as the near side. The reason we always see the same face of the Moon is because it’s tidally locked—its rotation is synchronized with its orbit around Earth. So while “dark side” sounds mysterious, it’s just another part of the Moon catching the Sun’s light.
