Despite being the farthest planet from the Sun, Neptune has the most extreme winds in the solar system, reaching speeds of 2,100 km/h (1,300 mph). That’s faster than the speed of sound on Earth. These supersonic winds whip through Neptune’s icy clouds, creating massive storms, including the famous Great Dark Spot, which was once large enough to swallow Earth.
